Frequently Asked Questions:

Here are a few frequently asked questions and answers on Conair Dual Heat Extreme Steam Hand Held Fabric Steamer.

Question Question 1

Our Product Stopped Working And It Wont Produce Steam Even With Green Light On. Any Clues On How To Fix This ?

our device wouldn’t produce steam after just one use and a year in storage. So, from on-line reading, we figured the problem was an airlock (bubbles of water) trapped in the internal tube. It is otherwise heating and light indications are normal. So we let it cool, pulled out the water reservoir and placed it head down in our device wouldn’t produce steam after just one use and a year in storage. So, from on-line reading, we figured the problem was an airlock (bubbles of water) trapped in the internal tube. It is otherwise heating and light indications are normal. So we let it cool, pulled out the water reservoir and placed it head down into the bath sink (do ensure the device is unplugged, cooled for this step). Take about three or four inches of aquarium air hose tubing (you can purchase it at pet supply). It’s about 1/8 or 3/16 inside diameter. Push one end over the water supply inlet, inside the cavity where the water reservoir normally sits. Now take a medium to small size syringe. Fill it with water (best the pure kind you purchase at pharmacies – well you might just try air alone). Now forcibly use the syringe to flush a solid stream of water through the device internal tubing. Stand the travel steamer up. Removed the improvised maintenance hose. Fill the water reservoir and replace it. Now turn your steamer on, let it heat the required time and steam away. It worked like a charm in our case – steamed mightily. we are saving our bit of resourced tubing and the medium plastic syringe – with instructions – and storing it with our steamer device, since we only use it every six months or more. we know it will air or water bubble lock the next time round. we will be ready.

Question Question 2

Question Question 3

We Only Used Our Steamer Once. We Tried Using It Few Days Ago And It Won’T Steam. It Heats Up, Light Turns Green, It Just Won’T Produce Any Steam.?

Both lights were on and it made continous grinding sound, but no steam. Here’s how we fixed it. No disassemly is required. No need to flush it with vinegar either unless it was used heavily for months. The problem is likely that air bubbles get in a line inside the steamer’s handle which leads from a reservoir to a pump. Water pump is not powerful enough to create vacuum to dislodge the bubbles.1. Fill the reservoir completely with distilled water. Make sure to top it off. The idea is to have as little air inside a reservoir as possible. Put the reservoir back in place.2. Turn the steamer upside down. That way gravity helps water to clear air bubbles and get to the pump. Make sure to point the steamer away from hands, faces, cats, etc. while holding it in this awkward position.3. Turn on the steamer. Tap the steamer repeatedly, not too lightly, but not too hard. This helps to dislodge air bubbles.4. If you’re lucky, after 10-15 seconds the sound from the steamer will change and it will start producing steam.

Question Question 4

Our Insights:

See our insights (based on our own experience after purchasing and using the product, or based on some research work) on Conair Dual Heat Extreme Steam Hand Held Fabric Steamer, these might be useful for better understanding.

This thing runs a small pump that can get clogged for whatever reason. Simple fix: use a 10ml medicine syringe that you can pick up for free at any local pharmacy (ask the pharmacist for one) fill it up with water, remove the water resivoir and place the syringe into the rubber hole that sucks up the water from the resivoir, turn the steamer on and while the trigger is pulled force water into the pump with the syringe. No need to go too fast so you don’t damage the pump. It should take only 5 to 10 seconds to push it through. Voila. It’s fixed.

We would been struggling to peel the wallpaper off the walls in our son s room. The recommended remover at the hardware store wasn t cutting it and smelled awful. Instead of buying a wallpaper steamer we tried our conair and it worked great. Why we recommend this product: – lightweight – heats up fast – easy to refill – ample cord lengthwe are just wondering what other home projects this great gadget will help us with in the future. :).

This item should be in every household in america. We say that because our relative and we have owned this for 3 1/2 years now. It has survived multiple vacations, plane trips, drops on the floor, and every other beating we threw at it. Here are few more details. Durability: like we said, our steamer has been dropped more than we would like to admit and looks the part. But it still runs like new and makes us look like super stars. Safety: this thing does get hot and we have come close to burning ourself a time or two. But if you read the warnings and don t pull any stupid moves like ourself, you will be safe. Dependability: as we said above, this thing has travelled with us all over the world. We know cruise lines and airports don t treat luggage as fragile property, but it has somehow survived all this time. And it always works like a charm and straightens our clothes when we need it. Giftability: we made this word up, but it is great for wedding gifts. We give this to all of our newly married friends because it is a gift that keeps on giving. Our closet seems to be bursting full of wrinkled clothes and this fixes the problem within a minute. *if you found our review helpful, please let know by clicking the helpful button below.

We used this exact steamer at a place we stayed at on our vacation a couple weeks ago and loved it so we bought our own. We travel a lot plus we suck at using an iron. ???? anyways our daughter has a masquerade ball coming up and ordered her dress off and it was beautiful but looked like it’s been in a bag for 5 yrs. So we tried this steamer out on it and it worked great. We didn’t give it a high durability score only because we don’t know yet. Also on our pics we could have done a better job but we got littles yelling for us the whole time so we didn’t spend much time on it. But still looks so much better.

We hate ironing, so steaming is a fast and easy way to give our clothes a polished look. This steamer is great it heats up quickly and puts out a steady stream of steam. We love that it has the option to use the trigger for quick jobs or the trigger lock for ones that will take longer. The attachments work well for adding seams to clothing. It can also be used both vertically and horizontally, so we can refresh things like our bed, drapery and furniture periodically with steam. Our one complaint is that it doesn t come with a stand, but since you control the steam using the trigger, you can put it down without worrying about damaging the surface.

We hesitate at first when we saw those bad reviews, but we got the 10$ discount on over 20$ product that shipped and fulfilled by so we decided to give it a try and we are glad that we did. It is heated up pretty fast and no water mark on clothes. There’s a button to turn the steamer when you’re ready so no worries about it continue to steam when you leave it down and change to another clothes.

We are an everyday iron-er but was going on vacation where only a table size ironing board was available so we gave in and researched steamers to take. This conair had great reviews and we couldn’t agree more with them. What a great steamer, it did a perfect job all week long. Due to the nice size of the tank we were able to steam at least 4 pieces per tank. We also was impressed by the length of the cord and of course the results it produced. Wrinkle free and looking great. The steamer is larger than some may want in a travel steamer but for us the results and ease of use was worth the corner it took in our luggage.

We do not iron. We don t starch or soften. Clothes don t like living here. But now they do. Look at these pants. Typical wash day. Wash, dry, into a basket for a week. Then when you finally clean up your messes, and fold clothes, you just cannot avoid the wrinkles. It happens, we re busy humans. We were shocked at how easy it was to use this steamer, and how effortlessly it removes week-old wrinkles from our husband s thick khakwe pants. Proof is in the picturewe decided to purchase this model from because we wanted the fabric attachment. So happy.

This steamer works well for daily needs, such as touching up a dress shirt from the dry cleaners or other items. We have found that shirts with even deep-set wrinkles turn out looking great when using this steamer. We have found we do need to pay attention and handle the steamer with care when using it as the large steam vent, weight/shape of it, and cord makes it easy to accidentally burn your fingers if you are trying to hold the fabric taught for best results. Good purchase and was even able to save some space in our condo as we found we no longer needed our ironing board.

We traveled to our sisters house in another state, and during the travel, all our clothes were severely wrinkled. We are ashamed to admit, we don’t know how to iron, but we are pro at using a steamer. We got our first one when we were a fresh teenager almost 18 years ago and have seen the advancement in steamer technology through those years. This one by far beat all the other we have owned in the past. The heat up was super quick. The steam was incredibly hot, and because the heat source is so close to the water source and the head, you don’t have any leaking issues. When your heat source is far from the head, true steam has time to cool back down and produce water drops. Those water drops get on your clothes and instead of steam, and instant drying, you have a soaked shirt. It was a no brainier for us, after that day, we immediately went onto and ordered one. It was shipped to us quickly and was in pristine condition.

We previously used a steamer by a famous tv inventor. It leaked from the get-go, took quite a while to warm up/come back to steam, did not have a ‘turn steam off’ button, was large and not easy to use with our left (non-dominant) hand. It also didn’t cover that much area per pass. This conair is the exact opposite. Heats up quickly, never leaks, big head so lots of area covered per pass, light, made for the hand so easy to use with both hands, you can shut the steam off if you need, and when you turn it back on, it returns to steam almost immediately. Does a great job. We are so glad we threw out the substandard ‘famous inventor’ one and got this conair.

This is a sturdy plastic steamer. It is easy to use once you figure out how to add the distilled water. It takes a little longer to steam out wrinkles on hanging clothes than we expected at first, and because it is heavy, our arm can become fatigued if doing more than one or two pieces. This is not a substitute for an iron and will take some time to get out deep wrinkles. We would not take it for travel because it needs distilled water which is not convenient on trips (and it is heavy). Rather, we would pack our delicate clothing carefully to avoid wrinkling rather than depending on this steamer. We also use it to steam handknit items which are laid flat. That is what we originally purchased it for. It is satisfactory and does not scorch the yarn.

Does anyone have any advise for this steamer? we can’t say our shirts look like they do after coming from the dry cleaner. We used an entire tank on one cotton buttun-up shitr and can still see a very subtle ripples along the shoulders and over the breast of the shirt. Has anyone ever used the downey fabric wrinkle release with this steamer and found a better result?.

First off: remember, you cannot replace an iron with a steamer. It just doesn’t work that way. Now. If you’re looking for something to get the wrinkles or slight odors out of your clothes, this works really well. To be honest, any steamer works just as good. But we are reviewing this one. So yes. We recommend it. It will never replace an iron, and you won’t be able to press your collars cleanly. But if that’s what you wanted, why are you looking at a steamer?we would recommend this for a steamer (we also got mine at a discount so. Maybe that’s why we are satisfied).

This is great if you forget something in the dryer and need it quickly. If you need a crease however, you still have to drag out the iron. We recently used it on new drapes. It did “ok”, it’s acceptable, but an iron would have done a better job. Also, we find it a bit heavy. We wouldn’t want to travel with it, nor would we want to do several garmets at a time with it.

Received it late august 2018 and use it every day on small light-fabric articles of clothing (t-shirts, shorts, socks, small towels, dress shirts) for touchups, and as a disinfectant and pestricide. It works very well for our needs, but for those that want to to work on heavy fabric/want heavy wrinkles removed, then an iron or the laundry is the answer. Wish the reservoir held more water.

This was larger than expected, but since we are not traveling with it there are no worries. Nice size reservoir on the bottom, easy to remove and fill. Worked well on a silk pocket square for refolding, removal of a few wrinkles on our tuxedo and out of our other halves rather expensive sequined dress. We have also used it to dampen a wool fedora to reshape the brim, and a wool beret to shape it for uniform use. Overall have gotten a few uses of it already. Regarding traveling. Would fit in a carry-on bag, but we think it’s rather large personally. Definitely not for a carry-on garment bag.

We had one of these that quit working after about 5 years. It is awesome. We saw reviews that said it is heavy. No it is not. Those people need to lift some 2 lb weights more often. You have to fill the reservoir all the way on the first use or it will not steam. Let heat up- be patient and then it steams great. We use it on knits and lightweight cottons. You should not expect a steamer to work on heavy weight fabrics. Only use bottled water.

In all fairness, he has never steamed anything before, so, we asked him to steam our new drapes as they have been hanging for awhile and the creases are still there. He didn’t go slow enough for the steam to penetrate and do it’s job, so we guess we will be doing this again as we have several panels to do and we will do it slowly and hopefully, the creases start to relax. It is light and does seem to represent well.

We own a drapery installation biz. This thing is a lifesaver. Quick and puts out a heavy steam. No need to drag out the large steamer. We leave that at the shop now we have this.
