Since This Product Will Heat The Water Up, Does It Need A Pad So It Can Filter The Minerals In The Water?
There’s no filter in it. There isn’t any room for a filter. If you have hard water it would probably benefit the life of the machine if you cleaned any mineral deposits forming in the stationary unit the water tank fits on.

What Type/Intensity Light Does This Unit Have? Thanks.?
It’s not bright enough to be used as a night light, so no glaring light. The knob is lit green when it’s running and will turn red when it’s out of water. we really like them because there’s no filter to clean, they produce plenty of steam/humidity for a room, and you won’t wake up with a stuffy head.

Is The Mist Actually Warm? We Have A Cool Mist Humidifier, But It Freezes Us Out, So Want To Find A Good Warm Mist.?

Which helps when one has the flu. Hope this helps answer your question. The HOLMES model #HM5082 is a much better steam humidifier and much easier refilling with water. And puts out more steam. Was unavailable, even from the company, when we needed one. Good luck.
Can We Put Essential Oil Into The Water Or Just In Medicine Cup?

Can This Be Used With Essential Oils?

See our insights (based on our own experience after purchasing and using the product, or based on some research work) on Honeywell HWM705B Filter Free Warm Moisture Humidifier, these might be useful for better understanding.
We bought this product even after reading multiple reviews saying it quit working after a month because it was the best priced and the size we wanted. After about a month, it did ‘stop working’ and the light would constantly say it needed to be refilled- then we figured, if it’s already broken what do we have to lose? and proceeded to take it apart to see if something was obviously wrong-lo and behold- mineral build up. It hadn’t occurred to us that after only a month of use there could be mineral build up so thick that it looked like mud surrounding the heating element but there it was. It grossed us out so we took to google to see how to fix it, a quick search of this model number turned up a youtube video with step by stepinstructions on how to descale and disinfect your humidifier-which we should have been doing weekly (oops). The good news is that it was a super easy process and it saved us from throwing this in the trash. Before you assume it’s broken you should definitely try this. Our only complaint about this humidifier otherwise is that you must tip the water container upside down to put it on the base, it can be a little annoying to fill and then flip over from the sink to carry it. If we were honeywell we would look at making the next model one with the full cap on top. We attached a photo of some of the yucky mineral deposits that were clogging up our humidifier-again, only a month of use.
We were constantly waking up with a sore throat and dry mouth until we purchased this machine and a hygrometer (a fancy word for humidity meter) to go along with it. Our bedroom has been dropping to 20% humidity each night before this humidifier. Realizing that our room was so dry, we started running the humidifier anytime that we are in our bedroom. Within an hour, of cranking the humidifier on the highest setting, the room reaches a very comfortable 40% humidity. Anywhere between 30-50% humidity is a comfortable range so we try and keep the humidity right in the middle. We are no longer waking up to a sore throat or dry mouth after using this humidifier. — water quality –we have heard many different issues with humidifiers depending on the quality of water used to fill it. Over time, the minerals and other particles in the water will deposit in the humidifier itself. This isn’t going to be a fun time. Buying distilled water will solve this problem. However, that’s expensive. Personally, we filter our water with a simple brita filter before putting it in the tank. Filtering the water will prolong the life of this device substantially because the water will have less unwanted minerals and particles. — energy bill –we decided to test this device with a wattmeter and figure out how much this machine costs us to run each day. The below results are based on a kwh costing $0. 12. Off: 0 wattslow: 130 wattshigh: 260 wattscost of low for 8 hours for one day: $0. 12cost of high for 8 hours for one day: $0. 25cost of low for 8 hours everyday for a month: $3. 74cost of high for 8 hours everyday for a month: $7. 49– sources –we are very close to graduating with our bachelor’s degree in computer science & computer engineering. We are obviously avoiding homework by creating this review. :)——————————sept 5th, 2015 updatewe have noticed that our unit had a large amount of scale buildup in the heating element after using this over the winter months. Here’s what we did to solve this:- soak a paper towel in white vinegar- place the soaked paper towel over the heating element and let it sit overnight- use an old toothbrush, or a toothbrush found at your nearest cheap store to clean the scaling off. **do not use anything sharp**- repeat the soaking and scrubbing technique until clear. For me, it took 3 days. – it’s highly important that the heating element doesn’t get scratched so please only use a soft toothbrush. On high the unit tends pumps out humidity at a rate of 3 times the rate of low for only double the power. After we discovered this, we never ran this unit on low ever again as it is a pure waste of dollars spend on electricity.
After spending an inordinate amount of time here on studying the various types of humidifiers, their ratings, and the corresponding complaints, it seems that humidifiers generally get a bad rap. It’s as if the manufacturers are incompetent or completely unwilling to fulfill their customers’ needs. Perhaps that truly is the case. But it seems that most of the complaints fail to recognize the difficulty of the job a humidifier is asked to do, i. E. , turning mineral-laden tap water into pure water vapor. It’s probably safe to say that the mineral content of tap water (whether supplied by a municipal system or from a well/spring/pond) tends to vary greatly from location to location (see, e. G. , www dot mgwater. Com/mgrank. Shtml#ordered). But one way or the other, when that tap water is used to fill a humidifier, those minerals will make themselves apparent, either as scale build-up inside the humidifier body, clogged filters/wicks, or white mineral dust dispersed all over the room. Because the amount of minerals dissolved in any given consumer’s tap water is far outside the control of any humidifier manufacturer, the burden of the solution reasonably can’t (and therefore shouldn’t be expected to) fall on the manufacturers, but rather on the consumers, who are free to avoid mineral issues by using de-mineralized (de-ionized) or distilled water (instead of tap water) to fill their humidifiers, albeit typically at great cost. So we’re left with a trade-off. Either spend a fortune (for most of us) on mineral-free water, or deal with the consequences of separating those minerals from the water the humidifier vents into the room. From a long-term cost-of-ownership perspective, we find the warm moisture humidifiers to best meet our needs, particularly given that there are no filters, wicks, chemical treatments or other costly (and high profit margin) disposables to re-purchase. We choose to accept that our warm moisture humidifiers will gather mineral scale from our tap water (supplied by a municipal system in virginia, whose tap water generally ranks relatively low in calcium and magnesium ions, the primary constituents of mineral scale), and therefore partially scrape them out at the end of each season. We also accept that at some point the scale will overwhelm each humidifier, causing it to fail and provoking us to purchase a replacement humidifier. Again, the mineral content in our water is probably somewhat different than yours (either higher or lower, we don’t know), so your experiences are likely to differ from mine to some extent. With that background, compared to our past warm moisture humidifiers, and recognizing that they all have become scaled with mineral deposits, that their tanks have dripped a bit while carried between faucet and base, and that boiling water makes the expected sound at the expected sound volume, this humidifier seems very well designed. Sturdy handle. Easy to fill from our bathroom sink faucets. Well-functioning valve. Plenty of output for its size. Subtle yet effective indicator lighting. Reliable auto-off when water level is very low. Performance as expected + very competitive price = solid value. Our only complaint is that honeywell doesn’t seem to sell the same humidifier in white (at least on ). But we did find an otherwise identical vicks model ( product code b001fwxkta) that comes in white, and we bought 2 of those as well. After several weeks, all 3 seem to be working just fine (knock wood), and given our history with warm moisture humidifiers, we expect these 3 to last at least several seasons (at which point the minerals will win the battle, as they always do (and must. )). Hope this helps. Edit 11 january 2015: we have found that on the high setting, this unit cranks out a lot more vapor than our older units, frequently running dry within 8-10 hours or less. On the low setting, one tankful of water lasts up to 24 hours. Both characteristics are beneficial for us, as sometimes we want to amp up the humidity in a room/area of the house quickly, and other times we don’t want to visit the humidifier as frequently to re-fill it.
We have had a different brands before. We like this style it looks real sharp, esthetically better them the others. We use tap water and add about 1/2 teaspoon baking soda to help with decreasing the mineral build up that will happen by not using fillered, bottled or distilled water when we fill the container each time. We also add essential oils to the water as an added benefit of aroma therapy. We expect it to last a couple of years with regular use (winter daily 24/7) and cleaning using baking soda and vinager to break down the mineral deposits. We use this for dry eyes, sinus congestion and allergies, and to put moisture in our environment which helps with skin and hair as well. So we are happy with this product.
The humidifier does a pretty good job bringing moisture in the dry air of our home. You’ll hear a little noise do to the water boiling. And make sure you wait about 2-3 minutes to allow the water to get warm enough to disperse the mist. On the low setting a full tank can last a day. On the high setting a full tank of water lasts roughly 12 hours. This is not the most efficient humidifier due to the lack of its technology to measure the moisture in the air, so it can’t shut itself off once the desired humidity level has been reached. It’s nice that it shuts off automatically when the water tank is empty. And we like the desire and color. We think we will buy another since it was inexpensive and get the job done. Overall, we recommend a warm mist humidifier over a cool mist, especially the honeywell brand humidifiers since they’re cost efficient and easy to clean . Since we have hard water, the warm mist humidifier will not leave white dust all over your home and won’t leave a weird smell, even after cleaning the machine.
We think this is a lot easier to use than a evaporative humidifier because there’s no filter to deal with. We also don’t need to add antibacterial treatment to the water. We run two humidifiers in our house and when our cool mist humidifier that takes filters breaks down, we will probably buy another one of these. Like any humidifier, you do have to clean this out once in awhile. We think the clean-up is much easier on this machine than on an evaporative type. We don’t use vinegar. We do have a little bit of minerals in our water even with the water softener, so we use an acid that’s marketed for cleaning humidifiers. No doubt clr would work well also, but the products that we buy is a lot cheaper. It does take more energy than an evaporative or cool mist type, because it’s heating the water, but we don’t care because it’s winter and the waste heat is heating our house (albeit at at a higher price per unit of energy than what we pay for our home heating). Since we don’t have to buy filters, and we don’t have to use antibacterial treatment, it’s overall cheaper to use this. When we have it on high, which is about 300-400 watts, the waste heat is enough to warm up our bedroom a little bit, which is great because that room tends to be a little cold. We won’t use a cool mist type humidifier except for temporary purposes, because all those minerals from the water are getting aerosolized and depositing all over everything in the house. We have enough dust as it is. And we suspect a lot of bacteria gets put into the air with those too. Since this humidifier puts out steam, that’s going to kill most bacteria.
We have three, using in place of our whole-house humidifier that conked out. Two are finishing their second winter, the other its first. They work great and are easy to clean (which you should do weekly). There is an o-ring seal or gasket that seats inside the reservoir cap. If you lose that seal the reservoir will leak. So don’t lose it.
We use 2 of these at our own house after we gave birth, and it was an easy-care, so we bought 2 for our sister who also has a baby. What we like about this product:- warm steam (we prefer warm than cold when we especially use it for our child)- has bubbly steaour noise (we know many people like it quiet, and this one is not quiet, but that’s why we like it, because it can be used as a white noise which helps our son to sleep better than in complete silence)- easy clean (many people say that it is hard to clean, but we don’t mind unscrewing and cleaning the inside when it starts building up)we think many people say that this one stops working after a while, but that’s because it starts building rocky stuff from water after a while. Mine all stopped working, too, but it started working again after we unscrewed and cleaned inside. We don’t mind cleaning, but we don’t go crazy and try to take all the rocky stuff. It could be annoying for some people, though. But we are grateful that we can at least clean it unlike some other humidifiers that has no way to clean it yourself. We used to own vicks humidifier, and we know that is a popular brand, but we prefer this one better, because when we owned vicks, it was the huge circular shape, which took so much space, and also it was harder to clean than this one. The execution of the tank was poor, and there was no way you can take out remaining 5% of unused water in the tank. We had to shake the tank upside down and get the water out, but still didn’t work well, and we usually hurt our hands. Anyway, we like this brand, now it has been about 3 years since we purchased the first 2 set, and they are still working perfectly. And we are heavy user too.
We have had several cool humidifiers, and they have lots of visible steam coming out of the machine. We have always felt that the steam drops to the floor and does not carry to the entire room. After using the warm humidifier, we feel that warm steam carries better to the entire room for sure. It is considerably louder than a cool humidifier, we have not attempted to clean in yet. But hope it will not be to difficult as long as we clean it once a week. ( they have videos on the youtube. ) we have been using distilled water that should leave less sediment, but we dont want to spend that much money on the water each day. Very pleased with the moisture level in the room with the warm humidifier vs the cool humidifier. It doesnt even require a towel below, the steam naturally carries through the room.
We were happy to see that the minerals would precipitate out and that the warm mist does work for a bedroom with vaulted ceilings. Cleaning it was ridiculously easy and we will just make it a weekly routine instead of waiting until it tells me, since we have had it for a little over a week. All the gross minerals that are still left after the water is filtered through our frig was insane, but the ie is the worst water out of everywhere we have ever lived. Again, it was super easy to clean so we don t mind. We are just thrilled not to breathe all that crap in and this humidifier makes sure that it only evaporates water. Now it does raise the temp of the room, so if you are someone who gets hot, or in our case our husband, then you may want to sleep in the guest bedroom or couch. We feel significantly better using it every night. (99. 9% sure we have covid-19). We used it for the first two days wherever we were and then the last week just during naps and overnight.
This item has a nice warm mist that comes out, feels so much better in our bedroom, than the cool mist humidifier we had, which froze us out. It’s not very loud, but you hear it, to us sounds like water boiling on the stove, or maybe light rain outside. Our cool mist one, was completely silent, so had to get used to this one, but that’s ok, worth it to have this. For me, the low setting is too low, and high really puts it out, but we don’t want to run it on high all night. Therefore, we put it on high a couple of hours, before we are ready to sleep, the room gets moist & warm, then we turn it down. One night we turned it off instead, and woke up with a dry throat. That never happens if this item is running, so we are pleased.
We have 2 of these going 24/7. A full tank will run all night and raise the humidity in a large bedroom to 40% or more. Our usual humidity is usually less than 14%, humidifiers keep static electricity down and makes it much easier to breath. We do clean them out weekly following the directions that were included.
Good for temporary use but get a furnace or home hvac humidifier for long term otherwise you’ll be constantly filling and cleaning it. We have used it at nights for over a year and can still get decent humidity levels from the honeywell hwm705b, we purchased an acurite 00613 humidity monitor at the same time and we also use it with the honeywell airgenius 5 air cleaner which we recommend as well. Be sure to get a monitor to maintain good levels. In a dry bad air quality climate, after a year+ of daily use, on high it lasts about 9 hours and can push a mid sized bedroom up 10 to 15% on the low setting about 5 to 7%pros – it does it’s job and has been going strong for 15 months, silent and you can tell the air quality is much improved if you live in a dry climate. Cons – we would like to get higher levels. A pain for long term, constant filling, tedious to clean but gets easier after learning a good step by step process. Small plastic bucket or “bakery plastic containers” soak in vinegar using a tooth brush and such. Not much to complain about other than the cleaning once a month or as often as you can. It will go 2 to 3 months without begging for a clean job. Keep a full gallon jug next to it for easy refills.
This diffuser is perfect for our medium size room. It have to settings, and it last all night (we only use it during the night. ) it mist warm fog (we are not sure if that s a good thing or bad thing, honestly. )we would ve given 5 stars but in order to refill, we have to detach it and refill fromtge bottom which is a slight inconvenience. Overall would recommend.
This is one of the best humidifiers we have ever owned. It is so quiet that you almost don’t know it’s even on and looks so nice and sleek that it blends in nicely as well. Since it heats the water to steam it is way more effective at adding and controlling the humidity level in the area of the house it is in. Since getting it we have been able to make sure that our basement is a nice stable 30-35% humidity which means that no one in the house is building up static charge and shocking themselves on everything they touch.
We had this humidifier for about a year, and had used it for about 5 months before putting it into storage for the summer. We admittedly don’t clean it out as often as we should, but descaling it about once a month wasn’t too hard with some vinegar. But when we pulled it out of storage, we couldn’t find the tank cap anywhere. We contacted the company to see if we could buy a replacement, but they said they didn’t have any available. They surprised us by offering to replace the whole unit under the warranty (even though it was completely our fault and technically not covered). We really appreciate kaz (who licences the product to honeywell) for going above and beyond on customer service on this one.
We like moist air coming into the room since in the winter it can get very dry during the winter. We like that you don’t have to get filters. We have not tried to clean the water deposits yet — since we have not had it that long – but we intend to follow the directions other reviewers left for cleaning. Thank you. It looks nice – innocuous – clean black lines, does not take up too much room. Probably we will buy another one – as the room we are using it in is very large. One thing – trying to remove the water tank to fill first time – wow, it was very hard. Once we did it, we will never screw on too tight.
We used it as a heater in our dorm room. We ran this poor humidifier 24/7 for about 4 months. It was pretty silent but we are also a pretty heavy sleeper so we can sleep through a small hum that the humidifier made. About a month into use, we had to clean out the calcium deposits from the inside. Usually, one deep cleaning would keep the humidifier running for a month and we think it is very much worth the price of the product. One thing we do recommend, with the water we were using was well water, we would run tap water through a filter before running it through the humidifier. Makes sure that anything in the water gets cleaned out and not spread throughout the room you are using it in.
We were looking for something that didn’t make a lot of gurgling noises and did not have a bright indicator light. We can’t sleep if there is light in the room. The light on this humidifier is not bright enough to be a problem. Face it toward the wall away from the bed and it’s barely noticable. It doesn’t gurgle loudly, like some other humidifiers we have had that were loud enough to wake us from a sound sleep. This one is a slight hiss not unlike a white noise generator. If you are looking for a quiet and dark humidifier this is a good one. Oh and it worked well at humidifing the room sufficiently too.
Someone wrote don t trust the posting reviews, but we have to say if you get one of these machines and it doesn t have that defect of water leaking out of the dial, it does work really well. You must take proper care of it though, and clean it. This is especially true if you don t use distilled water – we clean mine after 3 or 4 long uses, and we noticed that simply using brita filtered tap water instead of distilled causes more build up around the heating element than when we use distilled water. It s an awesome machine – full tank on full power lasts for 8 hours at least. It s a small machine, so it will humidify a decent size bedroom. We ve had ours for 2-ish years and it s still going strong. We do only use it for sleeping though.
