Our Insights:

See our insights (based on our own experience after purchasing and using the product, or based on some research work) on Mack’s Pillow Soft Silicone Earplugs, these might be useful for better understanding.

Our husband decided to take up snoring as a hobby so earplugs seemed a better solution to smothering him in his sleep. We have been through countless types of the orange faom ones, they just end up hurting our ears and/or falling out so we end up with what looks like a bed full of cheetos. So we decided to try mack’s. We will never go back. These things are amazing. They block out the noise of our husband’s endless nocturnal pursuit of protecting us from bears by obstructed breathing. They don’t hurt our ears and they don’t fall out. Finally we can get a good night’s sleep.

These go on your ears, not in them. We fly internationally nearly every year, usually across the pacific, and wind up wearing earplugs for up to 13 hours (apart from meals), because the sustained drone of jetliners’ engines are not good for your hearing. But your ear canals don’t like that. They feature a thin layer of skin over bone and damage easily. That’s why doctors say you should never put anything smaller than your elbow in your ear. And we can say from long experience that conventional foam earplugs are irritating during long use like what we describe here. But these silicone earplugs go over your ear canal, using the qualities of silicone to adhere to the ear around the ear canal. That’s the theory. And in this case it’s also the practice. We lost mine before returning on our last trip and had to make do with the free earplug provided by the airline, and it reminded us of how great these silicone on-the-ear plugs are. If you try them we doubt you’ll go back, and they’re cheap enough to try. You can dispose of a pair after using it, but we have found you can re-use them quite a bit btw.

Best earplugs we have ever used. They really do work although there is a slight learning curve on how to properly use. You don’t squish them and stick them in your ear like other ear plugs. Instead they need to cover the outer opening to your ear. Not too much squishing involved, they should stay nearly round when in use. Really blocks out even loud snoring sounds.

Love these. We are super light sleeper so have to wear earplugs nightly. But after using foam ones regularly for over a year our ears were constantly irritated, sore and throbbing. We have small ears and even the foam plugs made for women and small ears just killed me. Finally, our ent recommended these. We will never go back to foam. We have been wearing these every night for seven months now with no pain. We like that they’re really easy to wash too, since they’re silicone. We do have small ears so we break one plug in half and use 1/2 per ear. This is just the right size for us but there are specific instructions included for use.

Flatten the earplug, then place it over the ear canal. Then press it into place at 12, 3 6, 9, like the face of a clock. We have used these for years and they work excellent. We read alot of the reviews and people are either inserting them into the ear canal or complaining there to soft. They have to be soft to adhere to the skin in your ear. These work excellent, exspecialy if you have noisy neighbors, like me.

Our bf snores. Loud. We have wood floors in the bedroom and the dogs. If the dogs walk around, you hear it. Wonderful in the middle of the night. We have tried every year plug imaginable. We can still hear stuff. We tried these on a whim and oh our god. You cannot hear anything. Nothing. We don’t hear the fan, the dogs, or our boyfriend snoring. We do however hear our alarm because we set it super high. But even then it’s low. It’s a good thing we are light sleeper. We find them super easy to use. You just soften them up with your fingers- really pliable. We do what they tell you not to do but it works awesome for us. We basically put it in our ear and shove down with our thumb. That’s it. It doesn’t go into our ear canal and when it’s time to be removed you just pull it right out. We don’t find a problem with it but others in may. The only problem we have is we have very long hair and it tends to get caught in the wax. You can just pull it out and slide the waxy pieces off your hair. We remedy most of the problem by wearing our hair up. Oh, they are reusable, we have used the same pair for a while. When they get gross we throw them out. If you have smaller ears, you can use half of one and that works good too. But be careful -it is smaller in your ear canal. Other than that, we would recommend with more than five stars if we could. Amazing.

We have an awful coworker that we can hear eating her carrots, chips, etc through a closed door while we are wearing over ear headphones. We also have a family living above us that lets their children run from one end of the condo to the other until sometimes 11 at night. You could say we are sensitive to noise. Well these are super comfy and we have no issues wearing them for long periods. Can t hear anything when they re in. Sometimes we sleep in them, and if we put our phone next to our head we can still hear our alarm in he morning since it is so close. Very sound deadening if you get a proper seal. Only con is our hair gets stuck in the silicone.

The best we have tried so far. They are comfortable and form to our ear. They do not cancel all noise but it muffled our boyfriends snoring. Our hair does get stuck in them every morning though.

We have used foam earplugs to sleep for 25 years and now, after 6 months of use, we are ready to share what we have learned about these silicone earplugs. There are many very good reviews on these earplugs that cover the basics. We will attempt to give insight on questions that we weren’t able to find answers for when we were looking at these earplugs. 1. We wereh these every evening with hand soap and water and they never fall apart, change consistently, or lose their stickiness. We are using a pair we took out of the packaging more than a month ago. Be careful not to fold or remould the earplugs as dirt or earwax will get imbedded and then it will be time for a new pair. 2. The instructions warn about only using the earplugs on the exterior surface of the ear but we did not have good results using that method. We only had to form the plug to our ear once and they maintain their shape but we did have to push a little of the material into the ear canal in order to get a seal that would block enough sound for us to be content with the performance of the plug. 3. When we are not using the earplugs we store them in 2 small ziplock baggies. One of the baggies we marked with a red marker to signify the right ear. We learned quickly that it is important to keep them separated as it is difficult to tell which plug goes into which ear because they look so similar. This method also helps to prevent the earplugs from becoming dust collectors in our nightstand drawer. 4. When inserting the earplugs each night they will be stiff because they are not yet up to body temperature. After a couple of minutes of being in place they will be softer and we find that the best way to get a good seal is to gently wiggle and push the earplug with our finger which causes a micro burping effect (like tupperware). We gave these earplugs 4 stars because we think that they are solid product that we are content with. These are better solution for us than foam earplugs. We did not give these earplugs 5 stars because we are not completely satisfied with the comfort or the performance. To be a 5 star earplug they would need to be both so comfortable that we forget we have them on and we would need to hear nothing at all when they are on. Sadly, we have yet to find a 5 star solution for earplugs. Happily, these are good solution for us.

Our relative snores like a diesel truck and we had to find a way to get a good night’s sleep without moving out of the house. We have tried a lot of ear plugs in search of the best and most comfortable. We have tried both foam in the ear canal type and the wax type you smoosh into the ear. We have tried two wax style ear plugs. First, pq brand wax ear plugs are not very soft and the noise reduction is not as advertised. There are other wax ear plugs that work as well or better and are more comfortable. Pq advertises this wax ear plug will hush up to 32db. No way. We have also tried mack’s pillow soft (wax) earplugs and they say their wax ear plugs hush up to 22db. Pq 32db wax plugs give similar or poorer results than mack’s 22db pillow soft plugs. When we lay on our side with pq it feels like we have a hard piece of plastic in our ear. They don’t really stay in place well all night either. Again mack’s pillow soft earplugs are more comfortable and stick better. With mack’s we can sleep comfortable and not think about what is in our ear. Either brand we mention here won’t block out all noise and we can still wake up to the alarm clock and hear people that talk loudly. However they both do hush enough noise so we can sleep through the rumble and explosions of our snoring partner. If you want to really block out most noise then go with the foam in the ear canal type of ear plug. The two we liked best for that are howard leight by honeywell max disposable foam earplugs and mack’s maximum protection soft foam ear plugs. Howard light for sound deprivation and mack’s for comfort. Mack’s blocks a little less sound then howard light but we picked comfort over the small loss of sound blocking.

We love, love, love these for blocking out snoring. We are light sleeper, and husband’s snoring has been a constant gripe for us – to the point that atleast twice a week, we would sleep in a different room so that we could feel well rested. And the days that we’d sleep in the same room, we would be tired and cranky as hell. We have been looking for a long term solution to this (since we would like for us and our husband to sleep in the same bed every night) . We even ended up purchasing the bose in-ear sleep headphones for $250+ – while they were effective for blocking out sound, the fit was weird, they kept falling out of our ears while sleeping, was uncomfortable for side sleeping and gave us blisters in our ears when we slept on our stomach. Returned. These ear plugs though. Have been a life saver. They are comfortable, fit well since you have to mold them to your ear, and have been super effective at blocking out sound. We were a skeptic since we have tried different things, but nothing worked. This one does. It’s only been a week, but we know we are customer for life now. Will never sleep without these again. The only downside is that it’s difficult to hear alarms etc through the earplugs. We are yet to figure that one out. But otherwise 5-stars from me.

Our very favorite ear plugs ever for sleeping. We have been using this brand for over ten years. Yes we can wake because of sound . This is in our ears every night, for ten whole years. It is like we can’t sleep without them. We after the first night did not notice it was there. We do ‘reform’ there to fit into our ears better. That means we rip some excess (silicone wax) off and mold it a bit, we never had a problem with these. Also for those that are wondering, yes you can reuse, and do not have to throw them out that quickly. Please keep making them forever. We can’t tolerate other ear plugs.

We use these earplugs for sleeping and swimming. Sleeping: our husband snores sometimes and we are light sleeper so we use these every night. When putting them in make sure your ears and hands are dry. If they are wet they won’t really stay in. We get about 3 uses out of them before we toss them and move on to the next pair. They stay put the whole night and the sounds are mostly blocked out. We have a baby monitor next to us for our son and we can still hear him wake up in the morning. We wouldn’t say its 100% sound proof, but it works well. Swimming: we use these when we swim laps. Again, if you put these in while your hands, ears, or plugs are wet, its gonna feel like you have drops of water in your ear. So put them in before you get into the pool. If you put them in well enough you will not get water in your ears at all. We have never had to adjust them while swimming either. Hope this helps.

We do a lot of traveling to different places and can have trouble sleeping with unfamiliar noises. Most earplugs don’t do anything other than make our ears hurt, but these were game changing. They are super comfortable and block out almost all noise entirely, making it possible to sleep just about anywhere. We take them with us for any budget hostel trip and never hear our roommates. We have taken them with us to many noisy city hotels and they block out all of the traffic and city noise outside (they even muffled the construction noise right outside our hotel enough for us to nap through the jackhammer sounds). And we recently took them on a cross country amtrak journey, and they muffled all the train and horn and wheel noises enough for us to sleep soundly all through the night. We absolutely recommend these for all travelers.

We received these a week ago and have used them two days in a row. We work 12 hour night shifts 4 months out of the year. We had been using the in ear plugs that are available everywhere and are great for shooting. But sleeping during the day with these in our ear would leave them sore and being a side sleeper, they would rub against the pillow or stick out and be uncomfortable. What to do? we ordered these and used them twice now. Everything said by others in pervious reviews is true. They are moldable, cover the outside of our ear canal, and cancel out nearly every noise. Our daughter’s family moving in during the coronavirus pandemic along with our 2 month old grandson. He has some serious pipes on him, yet with these in our ears we get restful sleep. The first time using them we got 8 hours of sleep and then today 6 hours without interruption. We also wear a sleep mask sold here that is truly amazing. If you’re looking for comfortable hearing protection to get restful sleep – no matter what it is, try these. With this many positive reviews, how can you go wrong?take it from us – a medium light-heavy sleeper who is awakened by landscapers, crying babies, loud entertainment systems, barking dogs, and dripping faucets: give it a try. Remember. If you don’t like it – you can always return it. We would definitely buy these again.

We purchased these because we are prone to swimmers ear. We used them for the first time yesterday. They worked perfectly as described. We followed the instructions and the wax made a perfect seal for us. We used them at a spa where water jets were used. We had high-pressure water hitting us from all sides and none got through. We had them in for about 4 hours with no discomfort. We had no discomfort after taking them out. It is slightly disorienting having them in because they reduce so much of the noise around me. We were with our relative and she could barely hear us because we apparently whispered everything, we sounded loud in our head for some reason. After taking them out, they were dry immediately. They come in a nice little snap-n-seal case. There is a bit of filament covering the buds. We used this to keep the used plugs from the fresh ones.

These earplugs have changed our life and our marriage. We have always been a very light sleeper – unable to fall asleep with the sound of our husband breathing (no, not even snoring. ) but we tried these on a whim and the sound-blockout is unbelievable. We use them every single night and especially make sure we have a set when we are traveling on a plane – you won t believe how blocking out 80% of the noise on a plane makes it easier to get some sleep. Initially it takes a bit to get used to the sound of your own breathing when wearing them and finding the right size for your ears takes some figuring out (our ears do well with 1. 5 plugs smushed together and then split in half sooo . 75 plugs in each ear). We don t throw them away after one use as is recommended – they remain sticky for about one week.

Really like the idea of having this de1ivered every month. Allows both our relative and we to get a good night sleep with few disturbances. Only wish amaz0n would get it right wrt de1iverey; last de1ivery was 3 weeks late and we contacted amaz0n to let them know, still took another 2. 5 weeks for de1ivery. Now, latest de1iver was on time but. Wait for it. Instead of 1 box of earplugs 6 were deliver. 6. Count them. Only thing we can figure is that the advertising says 6 pair and whoever was filling the order misread what was needed. So, we are basically honest; don t need to return the entire order, just the 5 extra boxes. How to contact amaz0n? they don t make it easy to do, so, we figure we will just post this and ask for amaz0n, amaz0n, contact me. So, amaz0n, ball is in your court. Pardon typos, first submissi0n rejected for usntioning de1ivery. ??.

Our son was plagued by ear infections. When we found out that this problem is sometimes caused by getting water in the ear while showering, we tried several kinds of ear plugs before settling on these as the easiest ones for him to use. Maybe twice a year now, he feels as if water somehow got in his ear in spite of these, and when that happens we use over-the-counter drops that dry up the water. That’s great odds in our opinion. Since then–no more ear infections. We can’t begin to tell you how wonderful it is that we haven’t had to go through all the medicine and doctor visits in over two years.

Because we once lived in a noisy apartment, we tried all the usual foam earplugs, and while they blocked sound they were so uncomfortable that kept us up instead of the noise. Then we saw these in the pharmacy and decided to give them a try. And wow — they work and they’re so comfortable in about a minute we literally forget we have them in. What’s really great is that while they work at first and greatly reduce ambient noise, as they warm up to your skin temp and expand a bit, they seal better. You can really sense the noise fade away as this happens. We are side sleeper so we usually only use them on the outside ear. We also use them while flying (in both ears), to help with the pressure change, and also to sleep on long night flights. Also read that the hosts on those very early morning news programs use these to help get to sleep at 8 or 9 pm in very noisy nyc (or at least it used to be noisy before covid-19, unfortunately). Truly great, simple product that delivers.
