Question Question 1

Can You Stop The Water Flow And Have The Machine Suck Everything Out, Or Are You Still Left With Some Solution In Your Sinuses Afterwards?

we purchased both the Navage & the Sinuplus as well.we are not as impressed with the Navage as we are with the Sinuplus. At first it was because you cannot use the Navage unless you use a new saline pod each time you use it, but after using the Sinuplus we think it does a better job and you can use your own saline solutio we purchased both the Navage & the Sinuplus as well.we are not as impressed with the Navage as we are with the Sinuplus. At first it was because you cannot use the Navage unless you use a new saline pod each time you use it, but after using the Sinuplus we think it does a better job and you can use your own saline solution. Now we just leave our last used pod in the Navage and use the unit to suck out excess water left in our sinuses.Big problem we see is if we ever run out of pods and open the top our Navage is usuless. To answer your question we guess you could stop the process before all the solution is used up and depress the on button and the vacuum would probably work.If we could only have one of what we have, we would choose the Sinuplus before the Navage.our Sinuplus has totally stopped our post nasal drip.we use it daily and would hate to be without it.

Question Question 2

Question Question 7

Since Fluids Take The Path Of Least Resistance, How Does Creating A Vacuum Allow The Solution To Make Its Way Up Into The Upper Sinuses?

This response is from RhinoSystems, the manufacturer of Naväge Nasal Care.Great question. we would like to help clarify what happens during a nasal irrigation cycle to the four pairs of sinuses – frontal, sphenoid, ethmoid, and maxillary, and to the three pairs of nasal turbinates.  As you probably know, the turbinates This response is from RhinoSystems, the manufacturer of Naväge Nasal Care.Great question. we would like to help clarify what happens during a nasal irrigation cycle to the four pairs of sinuses – frontal, sphenoid, ethmoid, and maxillary, and to the three pairs of nasal turbinates.  As you probably know, the turbinates (or “nasal conchae”) are the structures that expand and contract throughout the day creating periods of increased and decreased nasal congestion. The primary way that nasal irrigation works is by mechanically flushing, cleansing, and moisturizing the nasal cavity with saline.  This removes irritants such as allergens, micro-organisms, environmental pollutants, and dried mucus, and it helps prevent the turbinates from drying out, swelling/expanding, and causing congestion as a result. With respect to the sinus cavities, nasal irrigation s key benefit is to keep the tiny channels (ostia) that connect the sinuses to the nasal cavity open and unblocked, thus allowing the sinuses to freely drain into the nasal cavity.  The nasal turbinates are in close proximity to these channels, and if the turbinates become swollen from allergens, pollutants, or dryness, they can also block and clog the channels, thus contributing to sinus disease. Nasal rinsing removes irritants on and around the turbinates and keeps them moisturized, and as a result, they become less swollen, which both relieves congestion and helps keep the channels unblocked and open. This is essential to good nasal health because it: 1. Helps the sinuses maintain their natural drainage process.  The sinuses are lined with mucosa (also called the mucous membrane) which secrete mucus. The mucus is transported through the sinuses and nose by cilia, microscopic hairs that grow on the mucosal surface and move and push the mucus along. A healthy nasal-sinus system is one in which the mucus created in the sinuses can drain into the nasal cavity from which it ultimately travels into the stomach. This regular cycle of continuous mucus creation and drainage is essential to maintaining healthy cilia. Furthermore, mucus traps the various noxious materials that can cause sinus infections. Therefore, healthy cilia, proper drainage, and healthy nose and sinus membranes are essential to good nasal health.  2.  Helps prevent the sinuses from becoming blocked and thus vulnerable to infection.  When the sinus cavities are blocked and cannot drain properly, they can become sealed and isolated – efficient incubators in which viruses and bacteria can colonize and thrive.  The blockage creates perfect conditions for the growth of micro-organisms that cause infections.  Please note: There is no clinical evidence that saline from nasal irrigation devices of any type consistently enters into and rinses inside the frontal, sphenoid, and ethmoid sinus cavities. Nasal irrigation can and often does penetrate the maxillary sinuses with saline. Thank you again for your interest in Naväge Nasal Care. Question Question 9

Can You Adjust The Pressure The Water Shoots Into Your Nose?

Unlike other nasal irrigation devices that push (shoot) water into the nose, Naväge PULLS saline through the nasal cavity using gentle powered suction. The irrigant is drawn from the upper tank through one nostril, into one side of the nasal cavity to the back of the nose where it makes a U-turn, back to the front of Unlike other nasal irrigation devices that push (shoot) water into the nose, Naväge PULLS saline through the nasal cavity using gentle powered suction. The irrigant is drawn from the upper tank through one nostril, into one side of the nasal cavity to the back of the nose where it makes a U-turn, back to the front of the nose, and out the other nostril. The cleansing action is steady and controlled, and a nasal irrigation cycle typically takes from 15 to 30 seconds. The DIRECTION of irrigant flow can go from right to left or left to right because the nasal dock can be rotated 180 degrees. You can even change direction in the middle of an irrigation cycle by pausing, rotating the nasal dock, and restarting.People find it easier to irrigate in one direction than the other, and the rotatable nasal dock makes it a snap to go either way.

Question Question 10

What Power Source Does The Unit Use? Batteries?

Question Question 17

This Makes Us Gage Or Want To Puke. What Am We Doing Wrong?

Dear Matthew,This answer is from RhinoSystems, the manufacturer of Naväge Nasal Care. Dear Matthew,This answer is from RhinoSystems, the manufacturer of Naväge Nasal Care.we are so sorry to learn that you’re having trouble with water going down your throat. we don’t think you’re necessarily doing anything wrong, and we’re here to help. The key to successful nasal irrigation is to make your nasal cavity into a closed system, separate from the oral cavity. That s why the rinse can go in one nostril and out the other, and not down your throat. This is done by closing the soft palate. For most new users this happens naturally and spontaneously. Here are some tips if you re having trouble:-Relax – no one has ever drowned doing nasal irrigation. Seriously, the more relaxed you are, the easier it is. Nasal lavage is safe and effective and it is practiced every day by millions of daily users all over the world. For some new users there s a learning curve, and it may take 3 or 4 or 5 tries, but be assured that you ll master it too. Best of all, just like riding a bicycle, once you ve got it, you ve got it forever.-The nose pillows should be in snug, but not too snug. Press the pillows in firmly to create a seal. Once the cycle is initiated, back off a little to increase the flow. Don t block the tips against the inside walls of your nose. Less pressure often results in more flow.-Breathe normally through your mouth.-Press your tongue firmly against the roof of your mouth or sing/say sung , holding the ng sound. This will force the tongue up and help lift and close the soft palate, making your nasal cavity a closed system-Reverse the direction of flow. Rotate the nasal dock 180 degrees, and the saline will then flow in the opposite direction. This can make a big difference depending on your unique anatoour.-Again, if you re in that small group for whom there is a learning curve, don t give up. There are countless online reviews like this one: Absolutely love this. Once you get the hang of it, it works better than anything we have ever bought. So hang in there, it s worth it. Our Insights:

See our insights (based on our own experience after purchasing and using the product, or based on some research work) on Navage Nasal Hygiene Essentials Bundle – Navage Nose Cleaner – SaltPod Capsules, these might be useful for better understanding.

Been asthmatic since a little kid. One of our favorite lines was “we were born with a tissue in our hand. ” now in our 60’s and with chronic sinus infections, we decided to spend the money by investing in the navage nasal irrigation starter bundle. Two times a day for 2 weeks is the recommended direction for noticing symtom relief. After the 1st day, we were hooked. Not just because of the drainage, but our sinuses were so soothed by the treatment, we couldn’t wait for the next time to use it. We have been using the navage for about 2 months now, and wish we had purchased it years ago. At times we felt a sinus infection was inevitable, but with the daily repeated use of this system, we have been infection free. Because our sinuses were always stuffed, they drained into our throat at night, resulting in chest congestion and bronchial episodes. We work in a building of 600+ employees. Like working in a petrie dish, with all the bacteria and infectious disease. We have been blessed to not have come down with any of the floating alements since we started using navage. Gor for it. You will not be disappointed. This is not a paid for advertisement.

We purchased this device for our girlfriend over a year ago; she finally took the plunge and tried it out after months of misery and consternation. In her words:we have been having sinus and congestion issues our whole adult life, and they seem to be getting worse each year. We have tried all kinds of medication and treatments over the years, but nothing seems to help. Our sinuses get so bad that our eyes make squeaky noises when we press on them, and our breathing is so difficult we have issues sleeping more than a few hours at a time. We have tried to use a netwe pot in the past and it was uncomfortable, gross, and made us feel even worse since all of the water wouldn’t come out. We have not been able to find any otc medicine that helps at all. We were very worried about using the navage at first. We have had bad experiences with the netwe pot, and we have inner ear issues that we were worried about aggravating as well. Also, we are stubborn and don’t like to try new things (ok, we wrote that part. ). However, things were getting so bad this spring that we finally decided to try it, after staring at it for over an hour. The first time we used it, we are not going to lie, it felt really strange, and we began to feel pressure building in our ear. However, we kept on going, and water began to come out the other side and the pressure started to relieve itself. Ever since that day (about a week ago), we have been using the navage about twice a day, and we can’t even begin to describe how much better we feel. We can breathe through our nose, there is no more squeaking when we press our eyes, and our headaches are gone. We have been sleeping until the alarm every morning, which hasn’t happened in years (seriously, it was that bad). To anyone who is nervous or apprehensive about using this thing, please don’t make the same mistake we did and wait. We feel silly for not trying it right away; it has made a big difference in our quality of life. We have seen all kinds of awful things get rinsed out of our sinuses, including dog hairs and other allergens, and every time we use it, things just keep getting better. We had thought that we might need surgery to help with our condition, but for the time being, we are able to live a better life by power-flushing our sinuses once or twice a day. To me, it’s totally worth it.

We have owned and used the navage nasal system for just over a year now, so we feel we can write a good review based on long-term usage. If you want to skip all the details, in brief we believe it was a worthwhile purchase, though it is not hassle-free,for several years–probably most of our adult life–we have suffered from post-nasal drip and a frequently runny nose. Changing our diet and using air filters made no difference. It was annoying, but let’s face it–not exactly a debilitating health problem. So, we had resigned ourself long ago to living the rest of our life leaving a trail of crumpled kleenex in our wake (and pockets) when we started seeing ads for navage. We were put off initially by the price, but after doing a lot of online research into this as well as other nasal irrigation systems, this seemed to have the best overall reviews, so we bought one. Although we did read the instructions, we did not find the navage easy to use initially. The suction (up and into our nose) was extremely slow or not working at all. We had even tried the “singing” recommended in the instructions, which didn’t help. After several frustrating attempts we called their helpline, which was answered almost immediately by a very friendly woman with a completely comprehensible american accent, no less. She also recommended the singing, and when we said we would tried that she asked if we had tried turning the little plate on the front of the unit upon which the removable nasal tubes sit. We tried that, and it made all the difference. Once you have turned that plate to the direction that works best for you, keep it there. After our first successful use of the navage, we already had noticeably less post nasal drip and less of a runny nose. We could hardly believe it. With continued use, we have continued to experience significant relief. In fact, we would say our previous issues are almost gone. If we don’t use it for even one or two days because we are in too much of a hurry, or just being lazy, we definitely notice more mucus buildup and a slight runny nose. We are glad we bought this, but the navage isn’t perfect. For one thing, there are still times that, for whatever reason, we do not get a good enough seal with our nostrils and the tubes (even though we follow all the guidelines). One thing we have noticed through trial and error is that if we hold the navage downward at about a 10 to 15 degree slope (downward from under our nostrils, that is), we are much more likely to get a good seal. Also, if you have turned on the navage, and it’s taking longer than 60 seconds for the entire upper tank to suction into and out of your nose into the bottom tank, you don’t have a good seal, so just turn it off, remove it from your nose, and try again until you get it right. We find this has rarely happened since we began holding the navage at the downward angle, though. A few other tips:one reason we hesitated to buy this is that we didn’t want the hassle and extra expense (on top of buying the salt pods) of having to purchase distilled water as is recommended. However, we have always used tap water, both from our kitchen and bathroom taps, and we have had no problems. If you live in an area with good drinking water, you should be safe using it for the navage. To heat the water quickly and avoid wasting water by running our taps, we usually fill a glass pyrex measuring cup with a little over one cup of water and heat it on high in the microwave for one minute. That makes it comfortably warm by the time we get upstairs to our bathroom, insert the salt pod, and shake it up to mix the salt. Make sure you gently but thoroughly shake the tank to mix the salt adequately, or the water will result in an unpleasant burning sensation in your nostrils and sinus cavity. After using it (which we usually do morning and evening), we rinse each tank (after removing them from the engine component of course. ) with tap water then put them on some paper towels on our bathroom counter to dry. About once a week, we put both tanks as well as the nasal tubes through the dishwasher on the top rack in order to sanitize everything. We think it says in the navage instructions not to do that, but so far we have run the tanks and tubes through a full, heavy scrub cycle dozens of times with no problems. Again, we would only use the top rack of your dishwasher if you want to try that, and obviously, do not wash the main mechanism. It is worth an extra 30 seconds when you’ve finished to hold your head to one side over the sink and allow excess water to run out of your nostrils. (you may have to try both sides of your head to see which way is most effective for you; for us, it’s tilting our head so that our right ear faces parallel to the bottom of the sink. ) then thoroughly blow your nose. Even after taking those precautions, though, we recommend avoiding bending forward for at least 20 minutes, or you are apt to have water suddenly run out of your nose–it probably would be pretty unpleasant if, say, you were bending forward to retrieve something from a purse or backpack on the commuter train. Our only real complaint, however, is the expense and hassle of buying the salt pods. (we also don’t like that they create waste in the form of the pod packaging, but we have recently begun putting the empty pods in the recycling bin. ) if you purchase a navage via , as we did, you will receive a one-time, $10 off coupon for your first purchase of replacement salt pods–that is for purchasing them from navage, not via . Their shipping is not free, unfortunately, but with the coupon you will still come out a little ahead. After that, we bought them from , but now that cvs is also stocking them (at least online–they never seem to be in our local cvs stores), we plan to buy the salt pods when we have cvs coupons to get the best deal.

We have been using a nettwe pot for years because we thought that was our only option for nasal irrigation. We saw the infomercial for this product and immediately thought it was just a gimmick and a piece of junk. But then after reading reviews and about their satisfaction guarantee we made the purchase. It was a little tricky at first to get it working correctly at first, but after a few times (10x) we think we got the hang of it. It works quickly and we are amazed by how much junk it gets out of our nasal passageway. Also as an added bonus, we were able to use our fsa to cover the cost of this and their salt pods. So that was pretty sweet. Also the bad reviews about only being able to use their salt pods, there is youtube videos showing how you can use whatever saline solution you want.

We have used this for almost a year and its just friggin’ awesome. After the first few times of getting familiar with it, its not a big deal. We don’t use it every day, just as needed. A few times we have gotten up and had so much sinus pressure, it hurt to even move. Many of you know exactly what we are talking about. Before navage, we would take a claritin d, lie there a while, and then when we could get up, squirt solution in our nose while in the shower and try that way. But it was barely effective. 3-4 times over the past year when we were that bad, we forced ourself up asap (because we knew relief was seconds away) and start using navage. At first, we were so congested, the solution wasn’t even flowing. We could feel the pressure of navage trying to push its way through. Then, all of a sudden we could feel it moving with popping sounds as pressure was being relieved, making all kinds of sounds going through our sinuses, and could see the solution level go down in the top. 10-15 minutes after use no more sinus pressure at all. It’s that simple, that awesome. Tricks we have learned is (just like this morning) if its meeting too much resistance, just spin the nasal pillows around and let it flow the opposite direction. Once it flows, we switch it back. Or like today, we used it twice, one each direction. It especially helps those with allergies as it flushes out allergens. You can also use it as often as you like. You can also release the button halfway to stop flow, put still pull through. We often do that to keep it from overfill due to blockage and to pulse to help remove faster. Probably the best purchase we have ever made. Thank you to the makers of this device.

We have been using the navage nasal irrigator for several months now and it is a life saver. We have heavy allergies. Ragweed and mountain cedar pollen in the fall and spring in central texas and it helps tremendously with the allergies. Plus we use a cpap to deal with our sleep apnea and we must have clear nasal airways for the cpap to maintain the pressure to keep our airways open so we can sleep. So while we may not need it every night. We use the navage at least four or five times per week for the sleep apnea and allergies. Previously we used the netwe pot for allergy relief and to help with the cpap. But the ease of use of the navage irrigator and the fact that the suction draws the saline solution through your nasal passages makes it a real winner. You can stand up straight and not have to get into a semi-crouch twisted position in order to have the netwe pot gravity feed the water through your nose. Our back appreciates that as well as our nose does the navage delivery system. Much cleaner easier to use than the traditional netwe pots. We are navage user for life.

As many other reviewers have said, this does take some getting used to. However, once you are comfortable with the device, and aren’t pushing it too deeply up your nostrils, you will have success. The amount of junk that comes out of your nose is eye-opening, if a bit gross. We also found with a recent bout of the flu, that it is excellent for keeping your nasal passages moist, and not dry, which can really be painful during a cold. We highly recommend this product. Our learning curve took about three operations over three days to be comfortable, and within a week we were quite proficient.

We have malformed sinuses which cause constant sinus congestion, never ending infections, pressure bad enough to affect our vision, post-nasal drip, and vertigo. We tried everything short of surgery- a constant stream of antibiotics, steroids, decongestants, sprays, multiple different types humidifiers, etc. We were using the basic neilmed bottles to try clearing everything out, but they weren t working well we weren t able to get enough pressure to push the water through and it would often get stuck in there, which was not exactly comfortable. We finally bought this and it s definitely helped cut down on some of our issues. It does a good job of pushing out really bad congestion and infections, while preventing salt water from dripping down our throat or splashing everywhere. Our favorite part is the suction only mode that we can use after flushing to make sure we have gotten most of the water out.

As an allergy sufferer, we were looking for something different, something better than the netwe rinse bottle we normally use. We like how this machine can flush one nostril while sucking out the gunk from the other. There’s not doubt this this is way overpriced, as you’re paying for the function this thing does, rather than the parts and the unit itself. The build seems pretty cheap, but it does the job. The unit uses proprietary pods that must be used with the unit, and every so often we use a pod and it fails to recognize it. Usually running hot water in the 3 areas that it uses to verify the pods fixes it. There are videos on youtube that show you how to use your own saline solution or mix and bypass the pods. The big thing with this is make sure you use distilled water, as regular tap water can have parasites and other bacteria that may mess up your sinuses, and make sure you disassemble the unit and clean it with hot water when you are done.

We love this thing. We have chronic allergies, and our sinuses are always severely congested so much so that we couldn’t really taste anything or smell anything at all. We have used this 4 times since we got it, and we can taste and smell again. It kind of freaked us out at how strong the suction is but we got used to it. Really easy to use, and so worth the money.

We have been using nasal wash systems for five years this is without a doubt the best of them all. We put off buying this one for months due to the price however now that we have used it for a while we can say that it is definitely worth the price. It works great. Unlike all other systems we have used the salt pods do not burn our nasal passages and that to us is definitely worth the price.

We recently had septoplasty. Our dr told us to use a saline rinse twice daily. We went straight for the high tech thing, the navage. The first several times we used it, we felt like we were water boarding ourself. Once you figure it out though, it works wonderfully. Very refreshing and you feel great afterwards. So we have to let you all in on our secret to success by telling you first about our failures. When we first bought this thing, we used the smaller of the nose pillows which was right for our nose. We filled the upper chamber with distilled water and popped in the saline pod. Shoved the thing up our nose (not the whole thing. Just the nose thingys). Anyways, your suppose to half press the button to create some suction, then push harder to make the saline sail through your nose. That just doesn’t work. After you get your suction on, release a bit of pressure from your nose. In other words, if you push the thing to hard up your nose, the fluid won’t fluiditate (go in and out of your nose). Get a good suction, then ease off the pressure from your nose, then push button harder and voolah, there ya go. Secrets to success. Wife wants computer to play game, gotta go, good luck,.

This was the first nasal cleansing machine we used and we are glad we did. Having never done anything like this before, we were worried we would swallow the rinse or choke. However, the navage worked perfectly. After using the navage a few times, we got used to how the rinse should feel and we tried 3 other systems that we could use with our own homemade saline rinse (we don t want the continuing cost of buying the salt pods for the navage). The waterpulse is the device we use for most days because it is easy to use and we can make our own saline rinse and thus not have the continuing cost of the navage salt pods. However, we recommend using the waterpulse in the shower because it can be messy. We still use the navage because we feel it does the best rinse and we don have to worry about it making a mess. In short, we like the navage because it was the easiest to use for a novice and it does an excellent job, but we use the waterpulse for our everyday rinses.

We have chronic almost year-round allergies that often causes severe sinus congestion and sinus pressure which leads to constant headaches and poor quality of sleep. Allergy shots haven’t been helpful. Previously have used afrin and saline sprays. Afrin helps but it has problematic side effects and can’t be taken long term. The standard saline spray bottles simply do not rinse out anything except the lower parts of your nostril. This machine pushes water in one nostril and out the other, taking stubborn mucus with it and helps moisturize your nasal tissues. After a week of 2x/day rinses, we are seriously sleeping about an hour longer and feeling more refreshed in the mornings. This machine doesn’t address the root cause of your problems but it helps alleviate the symptoms by pulling some of the excess mucus out of your nose/sinuses. Now all that said, the one big bummer about this machine is that they want to lock you into their overpriced saline cartridges and they have designed the machine like a keurig coffee maker to try to stop people from doing diy saline mixtures. However, do not despair – there are tutorials on youtube on how to defeat this mechanism and use your own saline rinse.

So it seems, this is a very good product. Everybody who has allergies, colds, sinus problems would do well to use this item. It may not resolve your problems, but it will give you relief. Use as needed for relief. It takes time to get used to, but well worth it. You will be able to figure it out, after different attempts. The point is, it will assist/relieve some or all of your nasal pain and congestion. We still have a problem here and there adjusting it accordingly, but you will be able to adjust to your liking. Results will be immediate, regardless. Just do it, and adjust accordingly. Get those poisons and congestion out of you fast. You’ll see.

We bought this for our mother, who suffers from copd. This is a chronic debilitating disease that gradually (and sometimes not so gradually) decreases the lungs’ ability to supply oxygen to the bloodstream. In our mother’s case, it has severe complications with pneumonia and bronchitis as well as a host of other breathing disorders. She has found that using navage, many of the complications have decreased or been eliminated. Sinus infections and other ailments she’s suffered with for years are much less problematic. If you or your loved ones have copd or any other respiratory issues, you should definitely look into navage. We are very pleased with the results our mother has had with it.

We were pretty skeptical about this product, but we thought we would give it a shot to see if it helps with our chronic sinusitis. Using it is very easy once you get used to it. We like that it is simple to clean. The only downside is that you have to keep purchasing the salt pods. A quick look on youtube will show you a solution for this if you choose to create your own saline solution rather than purchasing their salt pods. Overall we would most definitely recommend this to anyone who has allergies or chronic sinus problems.

An interesting product. The common recommendation for nose/sinus congestion is to use a netwe pot. We have never heard anyone say, “we like our netwe pot”. This device is an alternative. Our relative’s first reaction was fairly skeptical. She read all of the reviews and gave it a try. She did not want to order it because of the cost, so we ordered it. In the past, when having similar symptoms, she has ended up on antibiotics. In this case, she used the device for a couple of weeks and received relief from her congestion. It took another couple of weeks to get rid of her cough but it tended to be a dry cough and she was not coughing up stuff. She did not end up on antibiotics.

Our daughter and we live in oklahoma and both have terrible sinus problems. We were so excited to try this out. We used it with no problems, felt great and will for sure be using it often. Now our daughter on the other hand. She could not for whatever reason successfully use it. She kept choking and gagging and claiming it was going straight down her throat. We made her try at least 4 times and the final result was. She has declared it her sworn eneour. So yeah, maybe you’ll like it like we do, or you’ll decide to stick to a netty pot like her.

Our sister has been raving about the navage, so we decided we would give it a try. Afterall, has the a-z guarantee, should it not fit our needs. Granted, the first experience wasn t pretty but we quickly got the hang of it and oh my god, what a difference it made in our breathing right off. We especially liked the email we received from the seller telling us our item was on the way but not a single word about 5star reviews . We get turned off by sellers begging for our review and navage didn’t. And we see why. If you suffer with allergies like we do you can t go wrong with nasal irritation and this takes the netwe pot over the top.
