More Info:

Here are some more information on Salter Labs Oxygen Tubing Swivel Connector.
Salter Labs Oxygen Swivel Tubing Connector helps solve the tangled oxygen tubes. As people undergoing oxygen therapy move around, the oxygen tubing has a tendency of becoming tangled. Tangles and twists in the tubing has the potential to hinder the flow of oxygen. One contributing factor to tubing becoming tangles is the tubing can become twisted and torqued. With the swivel tubing connector, tension that causes twisting of the tubing can be prevented by moving with the tubing and preventing it from twisting. This product features an in-line component that is used to attach tubing to increase its length. Because of its construction, the oxygen connector confers a swivel action between tubing, which, in turn, enables increased patient mobility. The swivel action of this oxygen tubing connector makes it a very useful accessory for supplemental oxygen therapy patients who tend to move frequently during their sleep. Those who prefer to sleep on their sides would also benefit from the wider range of motion using this connector provides.

Our Insights:

See our insights (based on our own experience after purchasing and using the product, or based on some research work) on Salter Labs Oxygen Tubing Swivel Connector, these might be useful for better understanding.

While visiting our mother recently we noticed her oxygen tubing was winding around itself and kinking, which was also cutting off the amount of oxygen she was getting. It reminded us of those old phone cords that become so kinked that eventually the length is completely gone. We immediately researched and purchased this product that day. As promised, it arrived 2 days later, which was very important as we were only there for 5 days and we live 10 hrs away. Although our mom was very nervous about us “playing around with her oxygen”, it was very easy to replace the straight connector with this swivel one. We were somewhat concerned, because some reviews indicated the swivel could slightly reduce the oxygen flow, so we kept checking her oxygen level with a device also purchased through prime. Her oxygen level remained stable throughout our visit and no more kinked tubing. That was approx. 2 weeks ago. She called us last night to again thank us for this swivel connector. Such a small inexpensive item has greatly reduced the stress and inconvenience she had been experiencing previously. We only wish we had known about the problem and this product earlier. We will certainly be purchasing more of these for her to have on hand. *one note to be aware of though, our mom would not have been able to switch the connectors herself. Obviously they need to fit tightly inside the ends of the tubing so it takes a little, not much though, strength to connect them completely. We highly recommend these.

Nicely engineered, these don’t swivel freely (if they did, the required loose joint would leak. ) rather they will turn readily if both ends of tubing are grasped and the hose ends at the fitting counter-rotated between fingers. They will serve to untangle long runs, but will not do so under the influence of the hose alone – rather, the two ends at a swivel must be rotated between fingers. For that reason, we installed them within 3 feet of the cannulae, so as to ensure easy access in case of kinking or distortion of the fit in the nostril. We have purchased more so as to be able to quickly remove snarls and kinks from longer tubing runs, and also to add one to our portable o2 concentrator cannula. Note that it was necessary to heat the tubing ends in very hot water so as to get them soft enough to slip over the retention ribs on connectors. We would recommend them without hesitation.

Really a must for people on home oxygen. Most have very, very long oxygen tubing to reach parts of their homes. All the tubing we have come across, are wound tightly in the package. When unwrapped and extended, it tangles so very easy. And to make loops to lay down tubing when the person is close to their oxygen source, it is extremely hard to undo. This swivel connector allows the tubing to be twisted in such a way to make it roll up or lay flat, without leaving the person without their life saving oxygen.

Why wasn t we told of this sooner???? it is the answer to 25 or 50 foot tubing from getting curled and kinked and tangled and driving you crazy and causing a tripping hazard. Amazing. We connected it from our cannula to our tubing and viola. We will say that we did buy a 14 cannula so it would connect lower to the ground than our traditional 7 , but so what, this thing works.

Just like what apria supplies to start us out. Then we got a bunch of straight connectors and found our hose was getting all coiled up because we tend to turn around to our left all the time. These swivels let the coils escape. We have 130 feet of hose on our o2 concentrator and have a swivel at each connection. Really helps the hose not get tangled up.

We use oxygen and walk around the house so the hoses naturally get tangled up and get twists in them. This unit helps manage the kinks, not eliminate them. When they are new, they don’t twist as easy, but after some use they do. That is the only reason we did not give them a 5-star rating. For the price, they are great.

This is a superb replacement for the unit supplied by our insurance contracted provider. The swivel allows the hoses to move without kinks. Easily in a cup of water the microwave.

Works great. After months of putting up with the oxygen hose getting twisted into knots, we decided to look for a solution. This was the only thing we could find and it didn’t really look promising. After receiving it and trying to for a few weeks – we see that adding a little twist to the line works great. We are almost sure this cuts down on the air flow, so we put the o2 up a notch. We think an in-line flow gauge after this would be better than the gauge on the oxygen generator as the hole on this little gadget seems quite narrow. No matter to me, it works as intended and with the 2 pack, we can use one for home use and one for the portable. All in all, it does work and is everything we hoped it would be. We guess this little gadget will also save us some money on buying new hoses as they should last longer. Go figure.

The oxygen line couplers with a swivel are significant improvement over the couples without a swivel that we were sent home with. We would highly recommend these couplers.

Small package with connectors was slightly damaged in shipment, probably due to loose packing or defective package. Finally located second connector which was loose in packaging materials. Both connectors are apparently in fine condition. Good product that we have used before. No problems with swivel sticking. Really helps keep hose untangled.

They work ok not great but ok, they still allow the tubing to get twisted which there not suppose to do so we don’t see the purpose of them.

Wondering if worth the money bother? yes it is, because it spins our oxygen line we were almost never tangled or kinked up.

It does what we needed-would have given it 5 stars but it was packaged with another product and we almost threw it away.

We ordered this because we are on oxygen but need to move around quite a lot. This is helpful in preventing the tubing from becoming twisted. It seems sturdy and we expect it to last quite awhile.

We have to use oxygen so we need the connector to connect our nasal cannula to tubing connected to an o2 concentrator.

Easy to take out potential kinks in tubing before they occur. Just wish they were like fishing swivels – automatic :).

A must if your oxygen line tangles. We put these on and no more tubing knots. It s worth the small price.

This is easy to connect to any oxygen hose for help in keeping twists and turns in your hose to a minimum.

Can’t ever have too many swivels. Works as expected with ease.

Nothing to like or dislike it is a tool used to connect oxygentubing. A necessity.
