Our Insights:

See our insights (based on our own experience after purchasing and using the product, or based on some research work) on Steamfast SF-920 Warm Mist Humidifier and Steam Vaporizer with Auto Shut-Off, these might be useful for better understanding.

We just received this today. We will adjust this review if things change. We have been buying humidifiers for years. Just ditched the ultrasonic (once again) due to the white dust. We are aware that these steam models can be hard to clean if you have hard water. We have cancer and breathing problems, so a humidifier is a must. What we do like is that you can top fill this machine. We filled the tank initially at the kitchen sink and as the water went down during use today, we simply topped it off from the top area with the floating ball. This feature is great. The steam humidifier is equipped with an “oil ring” which allows the use of oils. We purchased artizen eucalyptus essential oil (pure form) from and added a few drops to the ring, which is located by the steam vent (1st pic). So far, we like the ease of use. We have left it on “high” for the day and we are very happy with it. Just some side thoughts concerning all steam humidifiers. They run hot, so be careful when you are around them or touch them. Allow them to cool down before you attempt to clean them. We suggest turning them off when you are not home. Lastly, put it on a table with a towel under it. You won’t get the wetness that one gets with the ultrasonics, but be on the safe side and protect your furniture. We did research reviews and all types of steam humidifiers, and found this to be the best one to fit our needs. Remember, this is not warm mist, this is hot water which turns into steam. Wadeas we promised, we are back, 1/12/2020, to make some comments. At one point, the humidifier stopped working and showed the “auto shutoff light. ” it didn’t run out of water, the ceramic heating element was covered with rust. This is what happens with hard water, and apparently we are hard (if you will). We suggest buying milliard citric acid 5 pound here on ($14. 49) since it works better than vinegar. If rust is not removed from the ceramic heating core, then it will produce less steam. For all those who complained about the “auto shut off” always “on” it is because there isn’t enough water over the heating element. We had this happen to us and we simply poured water, from the pullout container, into the heating element area. (pull the white “stack” out first) an important note: we have had so many humidifiers over the years that even ultrasonics will “auto shut off” even while the tank is visibly full. Sometimes air bubbles or the valve gets stuck. We know everything we have shared might scare people away. You can research “white dust” and dust mites, and you might change your thoughts. Believe us when we say we have tried all kinds of humidifiers. We had a vick’s brand that had an ultra violet light to kill bacteria and that was all well and good, but it required a “wicking” filter and the wicking filter needs to stay wet or it starts to stink. We share this so that people know that most humidifiers have issues, whether it is the stinking wicking filters, the “anti-dust” filters that don’t work, or the pure steam clean humidifying that can be a chore to clean. We have town water, yet it is harder now than it was 10 yrs ago. Yes, this needs to be cleaned weekly, but with the right tools and techniques, it will be simple. Our second bottle of eucalyptus oil came today from . Sleeping has been a dream. Literally. We will be back if we have more to say. W. (sorry editors). We forgot to mention that we use mavea water, purchased here as well, “mavea 10-cup water filter pitcher” it is like brita, but better. We have an subscription for the new filter delivery. When it is delivered, it reminds us to change it. We are not sure filtered water will help, but it surely won’t hurt.

This humidifier works great and is easy to clean, the essential oil area is a nice addition, just keep in mind that this is not an essential oil diffuser it is a humidifier. We put white vinegar in the bottom and let it soak for 20-30 mins then use a small brush to clean the heating element and that’s it, much easier than the cold mist humidifiers that have so many areas to clean and get moldy very easily. We will most likely be purchasing another one for the living room.

Got this to remedy the dry air in our house during the winter and so far it’s doing a great job of that. We have it setup on the floor in our computer room and it can take the relative humidity up from 22% to 35% or more depending on the day. On the high setting it will run for over 7 hours, on the low setting it runs for about twice that we think. Sometimes it makes a quiet “bubbling” noise while running, but more often than not it’s silent. Our only complaint, and the reason we gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the automatic shut off feature failed once on our unit. The light turned red, and a very quiet alarm sounded briefly, but we didn’t notice until a burning smell caught our attention. So we generally don’t run this when we are not at home, and when we are home we try to re-fill the water consistently at the same time of day so it doesn’t run out. However, since that first episode the automatic shut off feature has appeared to work, so maybe it was just a fluke.

We have only had this humidifier for a few weeks, but so far we love it. It s definitely not meant for an entire house. Unless you live with bilbo baggins. However, for a small flat or one room, it does a good job (and might help end a long battle against static cling and shock treatment when you pet your cat in the winter). Our plants sure like it. This little gem is easy to fill and not spill. Even if you have severe hand tremors, you can manage it without getting water everywhere. We have not needed to clean it yet. Perhaps that will inspire a review update. If you re in need of, or desire, a warm air humidifier, this is a good product upon which to throw down your bucks. We looked all over for a couple of months until we found this and we are glad we waited. It s not going to give you guam-type humidity in your home, if that s what you re seeking. Think more like pensacola early spring. It s exactly what we wanted.

We love this humidifier. Started with one, now we have two since our kids no longer share a room (and are old enough that using a warm steam humidifier is not a safety risk). So easy to fill using a pitcher, holds a lot of water and can go all night on high. Love the place to add some essential oils for a nice smell. Unlike cool mist humidifiers, it doesn’t get scuzzy on the inside, but because it’s boiling your water, unless you use filtered or distilled water, mineral deposits will build up around the heating element. These are pretty easy to clean off, but you have to stay on top of it. We prefer this to the cool mist versions that pulverize the minerals and spray them into the air, creating white dust and causing you to breathe in mineral particles. Soon, we plan to buy a third one of these for our guest room.

Bought this for the bedroom, since the big wick type “whole house” humidifier in our living area doesn’t do squat for the bedrooms. We were concerned about noise and figured the steam type would be quieter. It is excellent. Keeps the humidity at a steady 41% on low, or about 45% on high, and lasts easily all night. We can barely hear it. It’s very quiet. Now if we could just find a way to silence our neighbors loud truck that he remote starts at 4am and lets idle in his driveway for an hour.

This is our third one – that is, for a different room, the other two are couple of years old and are still working perfectly. On low we fill them twice a day, on high, probably 3x a day and they keep the air well humidified. We keep a full gallon milk jug next to each to make filling easier. Our skin doesn’t dry out, we don’t wake up with dry mouths and noses, and we don’t get static shocks petting the animals, etc. The directions say to clean once a week, but we aim for once a month, so get a little mineral buildup, but with the hot steam, have had no mold issues like we had with a cool mist humidifier in the past.

Worked amazing for three days. Helped us so much with our winter allergies. Until the automatic shutoff wouldn’t stop switching on. It won’t run. Edit: we reread the instructions and it recommends waiting for a bit before turning it back on. Once we waited, it operated just fine. This is really helping our winter allergies. We highly recommend it.

Bought this for a treatment for our pet that had a horrible respiratory infection. Works great, we are also using personally does the job.

Easy to clean, easy to use, quiet, no white dust. Well thought out design. Total pleasure to use in every way.

We got this product which cost us an extra 10 dollars than the last humidifier we had. We though it works the same way like the cheaper item we had but it is harder to clean the inside heater. Our old one was easier and functions the same way and cheaper.

If you don’t keep up with cleaning, like me, then it will get loud & annoying. Keep up with cleaning & you’ll be fine.

The best we have ever. We hooked it to smart plug for control.

We’ve been using this for a few months now and only ever had to clean a bit of calcium deposits. Planning to fully clean soon.

Are use it nightly during the winter to get some moisture in the air we prefer the warm mist to the cool mist. This humidifier is very easy to clean looks great works great we like the automatic shut off we highly recommend it.

Great product, easy fill, easy clean, and looks great.

Works as described.

Excellent product.

Works grete.

We loved it so much better with the vaporizer clean and safe. Thank you.
